Melbourne (4 Feb 2015) – Webjet today announced the exciting launch of Bitcoin as a payment method available on its Webjet Exclusives site (https://exclusives.webjet.com.au/)

Webjet Exclusives is the first online travel agency in Australia to accept Bitcoin, offering a straightforward checkout process whereby customers can complete the transaction in a few easy steps using their mobile’s bitcoin wallet software. Webjet has teamed up with Australian company BitPOS to specially develop the payment process for its Webjet Exclusives product.

“We are excited to be the first OTA in the Australian market to accept Bitcoin. It’s an innovative addition to the existing payment options available on site. We are dedicated to providing our customers with a wide range of choice and flexibility in how they can purchase their travel deals. In this particular case we are excited to extend this payment option to the community of Bitcoin users that have relatively limited choice in terms of online retailers in the Australian market”, said Paul Ryan, CEO of Webjet Exclusives.

Bitcoin will sit alongside other payment options such as PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, PayPal and BPAY on the Webjet Exclusives site.

The Webjet Limited Group is trialling Bitcoin on its Webjet Exclusives product before potentially introducing the new payment option across its other products, including flights, accommodation and travel insurance.

Webjet Exclusives was launched in June 2014 and offers exclusive directly-contracted travel deals to its members. For more information visit or https://exclusives.webjet.com.au/ or http://www.webjet.com.au/
